Allendale, SC - Cape Fear men's soccer defeated USC Salkehatchie on the road, 3-1.
Charles Basse opened the scoring in the 4th minute, going one-on-one with the keeper and beating him for his 9th goal of the season. Anthoney Garcia-Aguirre provided the assist, his first of the season.
Anthoney then got his first goal of the season in the 20th minute, scoring from 25 yards out with a cannon of a shot.
Salkehatchie got one back later in the game, but Basse put the game away in the 87th minute giving him 10 goals on the season thanks to a nice lay off from Elijah Akins.
Also of note was the return of captain Eion Dockery, who made his first start of the season after coming back from a broken foot. Dockery helped lock down the middle of the defense along with Connor Morrison.
After a few consecutive losses in a row, the Sea Devils made a few adjustments that proved to make a difference today.
"A slight tweak is what we needed, but we still have work to do," said head coach C.W. Ponton. "It feels good to be back to winning ways. We're not a team that should be underestimated. This was a full team victory, from training into every role and minute played by each player today."
Cape Fear improves to 4-4 on the season and in conference play. They play next on Wednesday, October 10th, against Wake Tech Community College.
