Sea Devils Soccer To Call Legion Stadium Home

Wilmington, NC - The Cape Fear Community College men's and women's soccer programs will play their 2016 home games at Legion Stadium along Carolina Beach Road in the heart of Wilmington.

"We are thrilled to partner with the city," said CFCC Director of Athletics Ryan Mantlo. "They have been great to work with and it's a terrific partnership for both sides. Legion Stadium will help raise the game day atmosphere for not only the athletes but spectators as well."

In an effort to move the soccer programs forward, Sea Devils Athletics approached the city for usage of the synthetic turf and to continue the department's mission of providing top notch facilities for its student athletes. Legion Stadium boasts state of the art amenities including a brand new sound system and scoreboard, along with pro style covered bench seating for players and coaching staffs. The 6,000 seat stadium is home to Wilmington Hammerheads FC, a professional organization that competes in USL.

"We are very excited to call Legion Stadium home," said Sea Devil Head Coach Ryan Deppa.  "We not only want to represent CFCC, but also Wilmington, and this central location is a very positive move in that direction for our department.  The surface, location, and set up at Legion Stadium is outstanding."

The 2016 slate gets underway in mid-August as Sea Devils women's soccer is scheduled to play nine home games, with the CFCC Port City Classic set to be held on August 27-28.

CFCC men's soccer has seven home games at Legion Stadium, including its season opener against Richard Bland College on Saturday, September 3.
