Women's Soccer Spring 2021

Women's Soccer Spring 2021

Wilmington, NC - Coming off a very successful 2019 season (13-2-2), the Sea Devils have worked to reload for the 2021 spring season. With adjustments from the NJCAA due to covid, the Sea Devils will play a shortened season this spring, as the fall season was postponed. An exciting change that has taken place this past year, is the shift to NJCAA Division 2 soccer, which is a very competitive division now established by the NJCAA.  We want to work in a way, which our effort and decisions, and results, align us to being a nationally ranked program in 2021.

The Sea Devils will kick off the 2021 spring season on April 1, 2021 as they travel to play four year school, St Andrews University.  (see schedule here: Spring 2021 Women's Soccer) The team will play a limited Region 10 schedule, as a few teams have opted out of the spring season.  An additional change for the spring season is that the team will play a number of home games this spring at the CFCC North Campus, and some games at Legion Stadium.  Please stay up to date with the schedule above, as changes and adjustments will happen as teams navigate through the season.

Coach Ryan Deppa and staff Jason Famiglietti and CJ Garvey are very excited about the upcoming season, and they cannot wait to see the team grow throughout the season.  Coach Ryan Deppa, "From what we can tell from the off season workouts is that we have a competitive group who is hungry to get to play college soccer.  They have adapted to all of the changes, and have put in work to keep us on track to start preseason March 15, 2021.  We have a group of seasoned veterans, who all earned solid minutes as freshmen in the fall of 2019.   The returning sophomores have not played a game since November 3, 2019.  They have stuck it out through a crazy time, and that just shows the type of people they are, and also their drive to keep playing the game they love with their team.  We also have an influx of talented new players, who will help add some additional excitement to the way we play in 2021.  I have no doubts that this is the right mix for us, and the mix we have will make us pretty dynamic once they all begin to really play with each other.   This for sure has not been a normal year for anyone.  We believe this group will become a very strong team in time, and they have what it takes to do some not so normal things (in a good way) for the Cape Fear Women's Soccer Program."
