Women's Soccer Prepares for National Tournament

Cape Fear Women's Soccer clinched the Region 10 Conference Championship title for the 2nd year in a row on Saturday, October 29th in Axton, VA. After earning a 11-2-1 overall season record and placing 7 players on the Region 10 All-Conference recognition teams, the Sea Devils are excited to travel to Tucson, AZ for the Division II National Championship.

The score after the First Half of the Championship matchup stood 4-1 in favor of Cape Fear, but the Louisburg Hurricanes put up a strong fight and were trailing 4-3 before Halie Blizzard finished off the match in the game's final minutes to solidify the 5-3 lead. Freshman Maya McDonald earned an unsurprising hattrick for the Sea Devils in the First Half to establish that dominating presence early.

The Sea Devils received a 12th seed and will play their first matchup against the 1st seedded Holmes Bulldogs (17-1-1) from Goodman, MS at 12PM MST on Monday, November 14th. Cape Fear will then take on the 8th seed, the Schoolcraft Ocelots (13-1-4) from Livonia, MI at 12PM MST on Tuesday, November 15th.

"From day 1 of pre-season, we all agreed that our expectation would be to contend for the Region 10 title again and get back to the National Tournament" says Head Coach C.W. Ponton. "That Region 10 Championship game was an absolute battle that has made us more prepared to face the other 11 teams we'll see in Arizona. I'm so very proud of our team for accomplishing what we set out to do and we're excited to be competing against the best in the nation."

Live stream options for the tournament will be available via the NJCAA Network and our communications team will be posting live updates via Twitter throughout tournament play.
