Spartanburg, SC - Heading into crunch time with four games left in the regular season, the Cape Fear Community College men's basketball team picked up back-to-back wins during their weekend trip to South Carolina as the Sea Devils earned a 64-61 victory over Spartanburg Methodist on Saturday.
"What a gutsy effort from our young men today," said CFCC Coach Ryan Mantlo. "We are buying in to what it takes to play championship basketball and it's showing in the win column."
Coming off a dominating 84-68 result against Clinton Junior College on Friday, Anthony Vanhook dropped 25 points and 21 rebounds to pace the Sea Devils offense against Spartanburg, while five different players finished in double digits the day prior.
"We are getting tougher," said Mantlo. "We've had great practices and have bought in to what it takes to be special. Now we have to work on being more consistent."
TJ Evans led all scorers with 17 points on Friday.
Cape Fear improved to 4-2 in conference and 17-8 overall. The Sea Devils take a four-game winning streak into a four game home stand to close the regular season beginning on Friday, Feb. 13 in a Region 10 rivalry matchup against Brunswick Community College.
