Axton, VA - Mens soccer loses 3-1 to conference opponent, Patrick Henry Community College.
Patrick Henry got on the board with a first half goal scored within eleven minutes of play. Travis Cotton answered back two minutes later with a strike on cage off an assist from Marcos Reyes. The Patriots closed out the half by adding another goal making the score at half 2-1. The Patriots were then able to add one more goal to close out the game defeating the Sea Devils 3-1. Despite the score, goalkeeper Wells Bridgforth came out with some very key saves that kept Cape Fear in the game.
Coach Ponton commented, "We played well at moments, but we lacked focus and urgency for the full 90 minutes. We had 10 corners and didn't capitalize on any of them. This was yet another game we could have easily grabbed the victory, but we let it fall from our hands."
The Sea Devils are now 2-4 in conference play and 3-4 on the season.
Their next game is scheduled for Wednesday, October 9 in Union, SC where they take on conference opponent USC Union. Kickoff is set for 3:30 as the Sea Devils looks to get back in
the win column.
