Cape Fear vs Louisburg
Cape Fear wins
Highlights: The Cape Fear Sea Devils women's basketball team took on the Louisburg Hurricanes - overcoming a slow start to claim a dominant victory. Despite some early defensive lapses that allowed Louisburg's sharpshooters to capitalize on open looks, the Sea Devils quickly found their rhythm, utilizing excellent ball movement and an up-tempo style of play to build their lead.
A key factor in Cape Fear's success was their relentless press defense, which continuously disrupted the Hurricanes' offensive flow and helped the Sea Devils dictate the pace of the game. The depth of the Sea Devils' roster was also on full display, as the entire bench saw action throughout the contest.
Although the Hurricanes gained momentum at times—particularly when Cape Fear experimented with different lineups—the Sea Devils managed to weather the storm. Adjusting to new rotations led to some turnovers and defensive miscues, allowing Louisburg to stay within striking distance. However, Cape Fear stayed composed and closed out the game strong to secure the win.
Several players stood out in the victory, with Monica Surratt, Yamorie Hardison, and Janell Sindab making significant contributions throughout the night. Ja'Kea Brunson also delivered in key moments, knocking down crucial shots when the team needed her most.
"We played great team basketball," says Head Coach Taylor Todd-Williams. "We're continuing to build and grow as a team and it pays off in games like this."
