In Short: Cape Fear Volleyball had a stellar comeback against the Fayetteville Tech Trojans to cap off another Region 10 win.
Highlights:
The Sea Devils hosted a high-energy matchup last night in the Schwartz Center against the Fayetteville Tech Trojans. Fayetteville Tech kept the Sea Devils honest throughout all four sets and had a clear plan of attack as they stepped out onto the court: move quickly and bring energy to every play.
The Trojans gave the Sea Devils a challenge in the First Set as they took the lead early, but Cape Fear was able to solidify their attacking rhythm and finish the set with a win. However, the Trojans stepped up to the plate and took the Second Set in another close competition to even things up.
But the Sea Devils did not let their foot off the gas. The team rallied together as their positive energy and hard work earned them the Third and Fourth set to finish the match 3-1. All four sets were competitive within at least 5 points which made for an exciting evening of volleyball to watch overall.
Sophomore standout Kara Walker finished the night with 16 kills, while Freshman-to-watch Leah Davis kept the Sea Devils in line on the defensive side with 26 digs. Sophomore Hannah McDowell played a key role in the Sea Devils' success with 21 assists overall.
"Super proud of our comeback in Set 3 - it was really impressive by our girls," says Head Coach Colby Rosser. "It took all 14 of our girls to finish this one - and they showed an awful lot of heart tonight."
Up Next: The Sea Devils will travel to Winterville, NC to take on conference opponent Pitt Community College on Tuesday, September 20th at 6PM.
