Alumni Spotlight: Volleyball Alumna Angelica Biele

Meet Sea Devil Volleyball Alumni Angelica Biele:

"I STILL miss the volleyball court every day," says CFCC Class of 2020 graduate Angelica Biele.

Angelica, a former Setter and Right Side Hitter for the Sea Devils from 2018-2020, arrived at Cape Fear with a passion for her sport, but left with even bigger goals in mind. Angelica serves as a Clinical Supervisor for Raise the Bar Therapy in Hampstead, NC - an outpatient therapy clinic that provides physical, occupational, speech, and massage therapy to their surrounding community.

On the volleyball court, Biele finished her Sophomore season with over 120 Kills and appeared in every match for the Sea Devils. Throughout her time at Cape Fear, Angelica learned to balance her classes, volleyball commitments, and outside work schedule - skills that she would utilize every day in her current field. "Not only did they (coaches) teach me technical volleyball skills, but they taught me discipline, time management, reliability, dependability, and work ethic," reflects Biele.

Angelica started working with Raise the Bar as a Rehabilitation Technician in 2019 while also attending CFCC and competing with Sea Devils Volleyball. "I was lucky enough to have great coaches both years that were willing to work around my work schedule so I could get as much experience as possible," says Biele. After building on her responsibilities and skills over time, Biele was able to climb up the ladder within the therapy practice - and even add some flair of her own with her personal interest in music therapy.

Alongside her twin sister, Biele plans to attend management education programs throughout the coming months in preparation to take full ownership of the practice in the near future. Her passion for therapy assistance and devotion to delivering quality care to all of her patients has also led her into attending an accelerated Massage Therapy program starting in 2023.

When asked to reflect on her experiences as a CFCC Student and Sea Devil Volleyball player, Angelica's only regret is not reaching out to more of her peers about the opportunities Cape Fear has to offer: "I wish more people realized that they don't have to attend a four-year college to have an amazing college experience or to find a successful career."

Angelica's success both on the court and in the classroom has paved the way for her to explore exciting career opportunities as she continues to learn and grow with Raise the Bar. "If you find a job you love," reflects Biele, "you won't work a day in your life, and I have found my passion."
