Sea Devils Earn Victory

Wilmington, NC - The Sea Devils stormed out of the game Saturday afternoon to earn their second victory of the young season against Harcum Community College.

Harcum ran an uptempo offense that frequently did not take more than 10 seconds off the shot clock per possession, but Cape Fear was not bothered early, as the Sea Devils stayed in their offense and crashed the boards defensively.

Cape Fear's Emmanuel Andrews poured in 24 points, including six threes, to lead CFCC. Andrews was consistently square on his jumpers and made a few highlight passes in the second half. He signed with Liberty this week for the 2012-2013 season and was recently ranked 79th on JucoJunction.com's Top 150 list.

"Liberty got a great kid and a steal in getting Emmanuel," Cape Fear Coach Ryan Mantlo said. "We knew how special he was here at Cape Fear. It was just a matter of time before he broke out. I think everyone saw what kind of a player he is today."

The Sea Devils also got a marquee game from local product Rakeem Wilson. He added 20 points, including 14 in the second half, and knocked down 12 out of 14 free throws. Wilson was a calming element for Cape Fear, which proved important in the franticly paced game.

"It feels good to bounce back that way. It's hard to know what we're going to expect right now, but I've definitely seen improvement each game," Mantlo said. "If we can battle the way we did today and knock down shots, there aren't many teams that will beat us."

Cape Fear is back in action next weekend as they head to Florida for a two day tournament with Gulf Coast and NW Florida State College. Tipoff is slated for 3:30 p.m. CST Friday.
