Myrtle Beach, SC -- The Cape Fear Community College Sea Devils continued their perfect start to the college basketball season. The Sea Devils rolled over South Carolina Sports Academy 100-78 in Myrtle Beach, SC. The win boosts the Sea Devils to 4-0 on the young season.
Cape Fear continued to dominate play inside. Sophomore forward Faronte Drakeford led the way with his second straight double-double, 20 points and 10 rebounds. Freshman Anthony Williams followed with 16 points and 9 rebounds. Two other Sea Devils were in double figures as Tony Menton scored 13 and Parris Manning added 10.
"It's a great start but we have to continue to improve," commented head coach Ryan Mantlo. "We must get better defensively and honor each possession if we are going to compete for a championship."
The Sea Devils travel to Guilford Technical Community College in Jamestown Wednesday night. They then open their home campaign with the Cape Fear Classic hosting Baltimore City Community College Friday and ASA College Saturday afternoon in the Schwartz Center.
