Wilmington, NC - Nathan Pace's goal in the 47th minute off a pass from Gabe Moore was all Cape Fear Community College's men's soccer team needed Saturday afternoon to beat USC Lancaster, 1-0, in the final game of regular-season play.
Excellent defensive play by Josh Plowman, Matt Bruck, Sebastian Vallejo, and Alex Amicy propelled the Sea Devils defense which only allowed three shots on goal.
CFCC produced 13 shots on goal.
"It's always nice to finish the regular-season with a win in front of our home fans, commented Sea Devils' coach Chris Libert. "We look forward and will work hard to prepare for the first-round playoff game Wednesday, Oct. 30th.
That contest will take place at the CFCC North Campus Soccer Field at 3 p.m – pitting third-seeded Cape Fear (8-3-3, 12-5-3) versus six-seeded USC Salkehatchie.
