Sea Devil Women’s Soccer Looks to Extend Winning Streak

WILMINGTON, NC --- Fresh off their (2-0) start to the 2016-2017 season, the Sea Devil Women's Soccer team returns to the pitch and shifts their assiduity to Saturday's match-up versus Region 10 opponent, Patrick Henry Community College.

"We will need to stay organized for 90 minutes and look for its moments to create goal scoring opportunities. Will need players to handle pressure from PHCC for the entire game," said Head Coach Ryan Deppa as he addressed the biggest keys to Saturday's matchup .

Kick-off for Saturday afternoons match between Patrick Henry Community College and Cape Fear Community College is scheduled for 2pm (EST) from Legion Stadium.

LAST TIME OUT
Day 2 of the CFCC Port City Classic featured a match-up against #8 in the nation, Howard Community College, who defeated Oxford College of Emory University in Day 1 of the tournament on Saturday morning.  Sea Devil freshman midfielder Janessa Annis, scored Cape Fear's first goal of the match in the 8th minute following a setup pass by fellow freshman defender Celine Jacobi-Barham, giving the Sea Devils the early lead. The Sea Devils would later get goal contributions from forward Alaina Capps, who scored in the 30th minute, freshman Sierra Raynor notched two goals, and forward Alyssa Coustenis also scored. Freshmen goalkeepers Elizabeth Ethridge and Kenedy Green did their job in the net by preserving the clean sheet, recording six saves combined (Ethridge-5, Green-1).

The Sea Devils and the Patriots most recently met in the semifinals of the 2015 NJCAA Region 10 Conference Tournament. Freshman midfielder Gabby Serpa got the game's opening goal coming off her 19th minute goal which was later followed by Katie Causey (assisted by Jenna Pecorini) in the first half. Cape Fear would take a (2-0) lead going into halftime versus Patrick Henry Community College after they outshot the Patriots 13-4 in the first half. The Sea Devils would stay strong in the second half getting two more goals from Alyssa Coustensis in the 68th minute and Raime Copper in the 71st minute. The Sea Devil goalkeeper, Emily Valenti recorded a clean sheet, saving all three shots she faced.

Freshman GK Sabrina Amos
-  Enters the game against Cape Fear Community College with a  .82 Goal Against Average
-  Native of Halifax, Virginia, where she has appeared in 110 minutes this season, and has recorded four saves

- Enters the game after a strong freshman season last year; 11 game appearances, with 2 goals scored and 4 points
- Native of Fayetteville, North Carolina, where she attended the same high school as fellow Sea Devil Gabby Serpa

Freshman MD/F Sierra Raynor
- Enters the game with two appearances, with 2 goals scored, and 2 assists, and 6 points
- Native of Holly Springs, North Carolina, has recorded a .545 shot on goal percentage through two games

Freshman D Celine Jacobi Barham
- Enters the game with two appearances (2 starts), with 1 assist and 1 point on the season
- Native of Asheville, North Carolina
