Wilmington, NC - Cape Fear traded opening sets with Pitt Community College Tuesday night until the Sea Devils ran off two straight to pick up a key conference win 3-1 at the Schwarz Center in downtown Wilmington.
"It was an excellent conference win," said CFCC Coach Emily Coleman. "I'm extremely proud of our hard work during practice this week, and it showed tonight."
With the match all squared one-all, Cape Fear went on the attack and cruised to a 25-11 win for the one game advantage led by Brittani Jefferson, who finished with a double-double, 15 kills and 10 blocks.
Lydia Smith also had an all-around game at net with nine kills and seven blocks, while Megan Thomas continued a strong season as the sophomore setter finished with 35 assists. Riley Litton also added seven kills and three blocks to round out the Sea Devils effort.
Heading into the final four games of the season, all in Wilmington, Cape Fear is riding a three-game win streak. The Sea Devils moved to 10-3 in conference and 15-7 overall with the dominating victory.
