Sea Devils Roll Past BCC in Season Opener

Wilmington, NC - The Cape Fear Community College Sea Devils opened their season with a bang, beating rival Brunswick Community College 84-75 on Wednesday night in the Schwartz Center. The Sea Devils (1-0), took the lead early on a lay-up from sophomore NiAmoni Bagley and never looked back.

"I am so proud of the young ladies," commented Sea Devil Acting Head Coach Trae Bryant. "They have been putting in so much energy behind closed doors, so for them to earn this victory tonight is such a good feeling." Bryant, who is filling in for Head Coach Lori Drake, earned his first career head coaching victory. "To be able to help these young ladies each day is what makes me happy," said Bryant. "But it sure does feel good to come back to my alma matter and get my first win as a college coach."

The Sea Devils were paced in scoring by sophomore Akyia King, who dumped in 17 points and added 4 assists. Fellow sophomores NiAmoni Bagley and Jada Nowlin added 16 and 15 points respectively, while Imani Sutton chipped in with 14 points.
