Hurricanes Squeak Past Cape Fear

Louisburg, NC - The Lady Sea Devils found themselves in another instant classic with #17 Louisburg College Wednesday night. After a strong opening half from the Hurricanes, Cape Fear came storming back in the second half but a pair of free throw by the Hurricanes with 4 seconds remaining sealed the 79-74 win. The loss moves Cape Fear to 1-1 overall on the young season.

"Tonight was a great learning lesson for our group," said head coach Trae Bryant. "We have to continue to grow and learn to keep our foot on the gas while valuing each possession." 

The Sea Devils had 27 turnovers and shot 17.2% from deep for the game. "Shots will start to fall as we continue to get in better shape, but the turnovers have to change immediately for us to be successful."

Cape Fear was led by Jada Nowlin's double double performance, notching 20 points and 15 rebounds. NiAmoni Bagley fought injuries all game but the sophomore was still able to dump in 18 points and 9 rebounds. Imani Sutton rounded out the double digit scoring for Cape Fear as she added 13 points.

CFCC is back in action this Saturday as they travel to Chesapeake, VA for a tilt with Bryant & Stratton College. Game time is set for 1:00pm.
