In Short: Cape Fear defeats Fayetteville Tech and solidifies their position at the top of the conference as they are one game away from postseason play.

Cape Fear Women's Basketball took the floor on their home court for the final time this season as they competed against the Fayetteville Tech Trojans. As the Regular Season comes to a close next week, the Sea Devils will prepare for postseason play next week for the Div. II Region 10 Tournament hosted by the Wake Tech Eagles.
The Sea Devils started off the game with solid ball movement, but struggled to knock down shots. After a few defensive miscommunications and missed jumpers, Cape Fear finished the First Quarter down 12-19. However, Sophomore returner Ja'Naisja Baker brought high energy onto the floor to help force turnovers and close the score gap. Sophomore Imani Sutton collected 3 blocks in the first half alone as the Sea Devils finished the half strong, but still down 27-31.
After Freshman Taylor Stehmeier nailed a clutch corner 3, Imani Sutton forced another turnover for a quick 2 points - evening the score out 32-32 with 5:30 left in the 3rd Quarter. Freshman Senali Moss began making some crucial defensive stops while Ja'Naisja Baker dropped a big time 3-pointer to extend their lead at the beginning of the Fourth.
Sophomore Jada Kent rattles in one more 3 to make things 57-42 with 2 minutes to go in the Fourth Quarter. While the Trojans persevered and continued to create opportunities in the paint, the Sea Devils were able to end things on a high note moving into their final regular season matchup this coming Friday.
"Fayetteville Tech was very solid at crashing the boards for offensive rebounds," says Assistant Coach Taylor Todd-Williams. "We implemented some adjustments defensively in the Second Half and the girls really locked in. The energy was great - really proud of the way they finished."
