Cape Fear Falls to CVCC

Wilmington, NC - Cape Fear lost their season opener 3-1 Saturday inside the Schwartz Center to conference foe Catawba Valley Community College. The first set was tightly contested throughout, with CVCC edging the Sea Devils 25-21. The Redhawks used that momentum in set two, rolling to a 25-16 win. Cape Fear bounced back in set three behind sophomores Ceri'on Ellis Mosley and Angelica Biele, earning a 25-22 victory. Catawba Valley bounced back in set four, winning 25-16 to clinch the match.

Cape Fear was led by Mosley's double double, 10 kills and 12 digs. Angelica Biele added 10 kills while Grace Pulido and Claire Smith recoreded 19 and 13 digs respectively in thier first collegiate appearances. 

"Starting the season with a tough team is a great way for us to expose our weaknesses and bring us a renewed focus in practice," commented Sea Devil Head Coach Colby Rosser. "We learned a lot about ourselves and, despite the loss, this match will set us up for success for the remainder of the season. 
 
The Sea Devils are back in action Tuesday night as they welcome the Titans of Guilford Technical Community College to the Schwartz Center. Game time is slated for 6:00pm.
