Ladies Sea Devils Soccer Stays Unbeaten

Lancaster, SC-The Cape Fear Community College Lady Sea Devils continued their torrid pace Saturday on the road, as they defeated Region 10 opponent the USC Lancaster, 7-0,  The win keeps the Sea Devils undefeated in the 2012 season. In the 10th minute, Jodi Barber received a ball directly from goal keeper Samantha Walker's punt, beat several defenders, and found the back of the net to open the scoring.  Barber struck again in the 19th and 25th minutes, with both assists coming from freshman mid-fielder, Sierra Davis. Forward Lauren Smith added the first of her two goals of the day in the 40th minute off an assist by Kelly Sigmon.  Just before half-time horn sounded, Tanay Ellis threaded the defense to find Haley Laurie, who beat the Lancaster goal keeper for a 5-0 halftime advantage.

Laurie added another goal in the 77th minute off an assist from Alex Duty.  Lauren Smith finished out all scoring in the 81st minute, when she took a pass from Jaime Berti and once again found the back of the net.  Sophomore goal keeper Samantha Walker recorded two saves, off two opposing shots, and recorded her second straight shut-out.  CFCC out-shot USC-Lancaster, 27-2.

The Sea Devils travel to Louisburg, North Carolina this Tuesday, to face conference rival Louisburg College. Cape Fear currently holds a 6-0-0 record and a 4-0-0 record in Region 10 play. The Sea Devils have outscored their opponents 45-4 in route to their perfect record.
