Sea Devils Storm Next Level

Wilmington, NC – As college basketball begins a new season this fall, six former Sea Devils will begin their careers at the four year level.

Landon Atterberry signed a National Letter of Intent (NLOI) to attend LIU Brooklyn, where he will be looked upon to help lead the Blackbirds to their fourth consecutive NCAA Tournament appearance.  Last season LUI defeated Mount St. Mary's in the Northeast Conference Championship before falling to James Madison in the opening round of the NCAA Tournament.

Faronte Drakeford, who garnered Region 10 Player of the Year and Third Team All-American honors last season for the Sea Devils, will be taking his talent to Central Connecticut State University. The Blue Devils, who also compete in the Northeast Conference, fell to Wagner in the quarterfinals of the conference tournament.  With both schools having the same conference affiliation, these former Sea Devils will square off twice next season.

Kyle Keck will dawn gold and purple at Taylor University.  The 6'8 center will look to help lead the Trojans to back to back 20 win seasons.  Taylor University is a NAIA school located in Upland, Indiana and competes in the Crossroads League.

Tony Menton's career will continue in Columbia, Kentucky at Lindsey Wilson College.  He will join forces with former Sea Devil CephasOglesby, who transferred to LWC after red-shirting at Towson University.  Former Sea Devil great, Charles Baker also attended Lindsey Wilson College and now plays for the Wilmington Sea Dawgs.

Ben Jacobson has committed to play for LeTourneau University in Longview, Texas.  The Yellow Jackets are coached by Bob Davis, who coached Coach Mantlo at Liberty University.  Jacobson will be looked upon as a three point specialist next season for LeTourneau.

Terrance Hampton will take the quickest road trip of the Sea Devils, as he will stay in Wilmington and attend UNCW.  Hampton, who graduated this spring has been accepted to UNCW and is gunning for a walk on position for the Seahawks

"I am so very proud of these young men," commented Sea Devils head coach Ryan Mantlo.  They will all certainly be missed, but I couldn't be happier for them.  Having every sophomore move on is a top priority for us, as we (CFCC) pride ourselves on seeing these young men reach their full potential as students, athletes and human beings."
