Waycross, Ga. – Cape Fear Community College's men's basketball team evened up its weekend record here Saturday afternoon with an 80-72 victory over Rise Academy.
Coach Ryan Mantlo's team raised its season record to 4-5 and will play a home contest Tuesday at the Schwartz Center against Guilford Tech at 7 p.m. The Sea Devils had lost Friday to 7-ranked Chipola.
"I was happy to escape with a win tonight," Mantlo commented. "We exerted so much energy last night, I was afraid that this might be a trap game."
Cape Fear had a balanced scoring attack with five players in double figures. Osandai Vaughn led the winners with 18 points, followed by Demarcus Sanford with 15, Demetres Abrams with 12 and Anthony Vanhook and Phil Wallace with 10 points each.
Vaughn grabbed 12 rebounds and Abrams collected seven assists.
