Turner Returns To The Port City

Wilmington, NC - Tabitha Turner enters her first season at the helm of the Cape Fear Community College's volleyball program. After three years as the head coach at the University of West Alabama (NCAA Division II), Turner will re-energize the Sea Devil program to national prominence and extend the winning tradition.

Turner resigned her position as head coach of the University of West Alabama volleyball team to assume the role of head coach of the Sea Devils volleyball program in Wilmington.

Turner leaves behind a 61-40 record at UWA. In her four seasons, the Tigers made four trips to the Gulf South Conference Tournament as well as a GSC East Division Championship in 2009. The Wilmington, N.C., native was also named the 2009 GSC East Division Co-Coach of the Year and made the Thirty Under 30 list as voted on by the American Volleyball Coaches Association, which honors thirty of the up-and-coming volleyball coaches under 30 years old at all levels of the game.

Turner traveled to the Livingston campus after serving as an assistant volleyball coach at Cape Fear Community College in 2007. The Sea Devils finished 18-5 overall and 16-4 in the Carolinas Junior College Conference – Region 10.

"Tabitha's energy and playing/coaching experience will prove to be a great asset to our program," commented Robert McGee, CFCC Athletic Director. "Coach Turner has proven herself as a leader on the court and in the classroom, her numbers speak for themselves. We expect great things here at Cape Fear and welcome her back to our family".
