Location: Joe & Barbara Schwartz Center - Wilmington, NC

Updated Record: 6-2

Score: CFCC 75, Gaston  78

In Short: The Sea Devils endured a neck-and-neck battle against the Gaston College Rhinos, but ultimately were not able to pull out a win in the final minutes of play.

Highlights:

The Sea Devils took the court against the Gaston Rhinos with positive and high energy on Saturday afternoon. After supporting their fellow Women's Basketball team in their matchup against the Fayetteville Tech Trojans at 1 PM, the Sea Devils Men's team was fired up and ready to take on their newly-inducted conference opponent. CFCC managed to keep the Rhinos' lead within 10 points throughout the game and forced them to work hard for every basket earned.

The Sea Devils maintained quick ball movement and managed to possess well throughout the game, but struggled to make some key shots as the Rhinos were relentless in their defensive pursuits. Although the Sea Devils communicated well on defense, the Rhinos were able to power through the small gaps that were left open and ultimately took full advantage of their offensive opportunities.

Freshman Ja'Juan Carr stepped up throughout the game both in his defensive hustle and his offensive tenacity - with a powerful dunk that had the entire gym on their feet. AJ Thompson (Fr.) and Talton Jones (Soph.) also exhausted themselves on both sides of the ball to keep the Sea Devils in it for as long as they could.

"We faced some adversity tonight," remarked Head Coach Mark Lane. "[but] don't hit the panic button. We're going to get our guys focused for Wednesday night's game."

Up Next: The Sea Devils will return to the Schwartz Center on Wednesday, December 8th to take on the Richard Bland Statesmen at 7 PM.
