Score: Cape Fear 96, Brunswick 80

In Short: CFCC Men's Basketball triumphs over local rivals at Brunswick CC on their home court.

Highlights:

Not far from home, the Sea Devils took the court last night against the Brunswick Dolphins for the first time this season. After falling to Brunswick twice last year during the regular season, the Sea Devils were prepared for battle and ready to redeem themselves.

The Sea Devils came out of the gate strong with a 22-10 run to start the game. Brunswick capitalized on a few opportunities to tighten their point deficit, but Cape Fear refused to back down and finished the first half with a 47-37 lead. Talton Jones took charge in the paint during key moments in the first half to hold the Sea Devils' lead.

Moving into the second half, the Sea Devils were able to cycle through various substitution patterns throughout in order to keep the energy high and throw off the Dolphins' defensive pursuits. Cape Fear took advantage of the holes in the Dolphins' defensive formations as their consistent communication allowed the Sea Devils to work cohesively in transition. All in all, the second half was a full-on team effort, and players throughout the Sea Devils' depth chart were able to contribute across the board to the overall success of the day.

"Our guys played with tremendous fight and tremendous togetherness from start to finish and came up with a win," says Head Coach Mark Lane.

"This was a real high-level game with some intense passion," remarked Assistant Coach Mason Mullins. "Everybody contributed and played a huge part in our success."

Up Next: The Sea Devils will resume play next weekend as they take on conference opponent Caldwell CC on the road on Friday, January 28th at 6 PM.
