Wilmington, NC - Oxford Emory tallied three goals in the opening 45 minutes to spoil Cape Fear Community College's Sunday afternoon, 3-1.
Faeth Wigfall scored a brilliant goal off an assist from Raime Cooper for the Sea Devils lone goals, while Melissa Cruz made five saves in net.
"Ten days ago I never would have thought we would start our season 0-2," said CFCC Coach Ryan Deppa. "We have faced some challenges in the last week. It will be how we respond as a team going into conference play, which will play a key role in who we are come October."
Cape Fear CC dropped to 0-2 on the year and open Region 10 play at Wake Tech on Thursday, September 3.
"Its still early and as long as we keep pushing forward, we will be just fine," Deppa added. "Right now is a growing period for our team, and as long as we are willing to grow and stick together during these tough times, it will payoff later in the season."
