Martinsville, VA - The Cape Fear Community College women's soccer team continued its impressive run through Region 10 play on Thursday as the Sea Devils shutout Patrick Henry Community College 3-nil in Martinsville, Virginia.
Alyssa Coustenis had two goals and one assist in the result, while Jenna Pecorini added one goal and two assists.
"I was pleased with our effort on and off the ball as our transition to defend as a group continues to improve," said CFCC Coach Ryan Deppa. "We managed the game well. Our midfield and backs played a key role in helping us create a number of scoring opportunities."
Coustenis opened the scoring 12 minutes in, followed by Pecorini's goal at the 27th minute. With Cape Fear leading 2-0, Coustenis tallied her team-high 15th goal of the season just after the break to put the game in check. Emily Valiente recorded four saves in net as the Sea Devils worked to earn their fourth shutout of the season.
Cape Fear improved to 8-0 in conference after the two-game road trip and 8-4 overall. The Sea Devils look to extend their three game win streak at the start of a three-game home stand against USC-Lancaster on Saturday, Oct. 17.
