In Short: Cape Fear Men's Soccer pulled out an exciting win in a competitive matchup against the Louisburg College Hurricanes.

Highlights:

The 2022 Men's Soccer season has been an interesting one for both the Sea Devils and the Hurricanes. Cape Fear has been fighting all season long to finish things off against Louisburg - as they have endured one close 2-1 loss and one tie against them in double overtime play.

"Louisburg is a great program," remarks Head Coach Dave Martin. "Beating them goes a long way towards what we are trying to accomplish here at CFCC."

Due to the passion and physicality of the consistent matchups between these two teams, both groups found themselves enduring Red Cards and the heat of the moment became very intense. Every minute of the match was a battle and no plays were taken lightly by either team. The defensive pressure from both teams was heavy throughout as neither team dominated with excessive shots on goal at any given time.

Workhorse Logan Wipperfurth placed one in the first 5 minutes off of a corner kick to solidify the Sea Devils' presence on the pitch. Freshman Isaac Puente-Castro scored the second after some tension built on both sides of the ball. Alexander Flores has been a key component this season in midfield transition and built up the attack to assist Castro in the second goal of the game.

Moving into the second half, the Sea Devils continued to shut down the Hurricanes and recover from defensive breakdowns quickly. Sophomore keeper Matthew Baker earned 11 saves to keep the Sea Devils strong in the backfield and successfully take the win over the Hurricanes.

"We created a lot of chances and it was fun to watch us put goals away early and keep the momentum going," says Head Coach Dave Martin.

"It was a hard-fought, but fun game to play and we're thrilled to finish with a win," echoes Freshman midfielder Benny Hernandez-Pacheco.

Up Next: Cape Fear Men's Soccer will compete in the Region 10 Conference Championship match on Saturday, October 29th at 4PM in Axton, VA following the Women's Championship matchup.
