Cape Fear Welcomes Vlahos as Head Mens Soccer Coach

WILMINGTON, NC (May 23, 2023) – Cape Fear Community College Athletics announces the signing of Giovanni Vlahos who takes on the role of Head Men's Soccer Coach. After an exciting Fall 2022 season with their first conference championship appearance since 2008, Coach Vlahos is excited to keep the momentum going and continue building the Sea Devils Men's Soccer program.

Vlahos is a proud UNCW graduate who recently relocated back to Wilmington, NC. Prior to his return to Wilmington, Coach Vlahos resided in California where he began scouting for the USA Men's National Soccer Organization 2017. Vlahos was also a Coaching Education Instructor for US Soccer as well as the Executive Director of Poway Soccer Club from 2017-2020. Coach Vlahos also served as the Head Coach of Cal-South's ODP program from 2013-2018, while also serving as an Assistant Coach at San Diego State University from 2013-2014.

Coach Vlahos continues to serve in his scouting role for the USAMNT and works with their Coaching Education branch for United Soccer Coaches. He also holds a USSF (United States Soccer Federation) "A" license, a USSF National Youth license, and a Goalkeeping 3 license from United Soccer Coaches.

I am committed to building a cohesive team that will compete at the highest level and prepare student-athletes for successful futures."

The Cape Fear Men's Soccer team will release their full game schedule for the 23-24 year in July.
