Lancaster, SC - Sophomore Katie Causey found the game-winner with 50 seconds remaining in the second sudden death overtime to lift Cape Fear Community College past USC-Lancaster 4-3 in women's soccer on Tuesday afternoon.

It was Causey's first goal of the year as the Sea Devils won their third straight to improve to 3-0 in league play and 3-2 overall.

"The game was very sloppy at times, but both teams played extremely hard and made it a busy day for the officials," said CFCC Coach Ryan Deppa.  "The goal at the end was a work of art. We are starting to see that we can win college soccer games in different ways and it's beginning to become a team strength. It was a good day for us on the road."

Cape Fear opened the scoring early as Jenna Pecorini took an Alyssa Coustenis pass and buried a goal eight minutes into the contest. Allyson Mclamb made it a 2-0 lead midway through the first half after breaking free behind USC-Lancaster's back line and finishing her fourth tally on the year. Closing out the opening 45 minutes, Karlie Yeomans powered a shot past the keeper off a pass from Pecorini propelling CFCC into the break.

However, the three-score advantage was not enough for the Sea Devils as USC-Lancaster rallied in the second half, scoring three goals on direct kicks.

""We didn't played a bad second half," Deppa added. "The sun was brutal for each keeper. We gave up three facing into the sun and so did Lancaster."

After the first extra period ended even, former New Hanover High School standout Vivian Fernandez beat a player on the dribble and assisted Causey as the sophomore midfielder finished near post to grab victory in the final minute of the match.

The Sea Devils return home for a date with Spartanburg Methodist on Saturday, September 19 before beginning a three-match road swing to end the month.  Game time for Saturday's contest is set for 1:00 pm at CFCC's North Campus Soccer Complex.
