Virginia Beach, VA - Cape Fear volleyball edged Maccomb Community College 3-2 on Saturday, in the first game of the Bryant & Stratton Tournament.
The match went back and forth. The Sea Devils took the first set 25-15, but Maccomb responded by taking the second set 25-23. Cape Fear responded by taking the third 25-18, but again, Maccomb answered, taking the fourth 25-15.
Then, in the deciding fifth set, the Sea Devils found themselves down 10-3, but rallied with seven straight points to tie it at 10-10 before going on to win the set and match.
"I can't say enough about our fight," said head coach Emily Coleman.
Payton Schoenleber finished with a double double of 10 kills and 12 digs. Taylor Gainey had 12 digs and 6 kills, while Ali Jenkins led the team 34 assists.
The win brings their record to 4-0 on the season.
