Sea Devils Name New Head Volleyball Coach

Cape Fear Community College is excited to announce the hiring of Heather Emborsky as the new head coach of the women's volleyball team.

Emborsky is a former volleyball player for CFCC who played for the Sea Devils in 2005 and 2006. After finishing her playing career, she began coaching club volleyball for the Wahines and Cape Fear Volleyball Club. She also spent a year as the head volleyball coach for New Hanover High School. She then moved to Atlanta, where she joined Metro Volleyball Club and coached A5, one of the top ranked clubs.

While originally from Toledo, Ohio, she attended Pender High School. After some time away in Atlanta, Emborsky is excited to return to the region and coach the school she once played for.

"It's an exciting feeling knowing you're coming back to coach for the school you once played for," says Emborsky.

Emborsky takes over a successful program that finished 19-6 last season and won 20 matches or more the previous 2 seasons. She believes her experiences will help her maintain the team's success.

"Each year you spend coaching you learn something new. [You learn] what is working and maybe what is not. I plan to use all the things that I found to be successful in the past to continue CFCC's success in the future."

To ensure the team's success, Emborsky plans to focus on her players' strengths while passionately pushing them from the sideline.

"My focus is always to use our strengths to get other teams out of system and capitalize on that as well as keeping our errors down on our side of the net," says Emborsky. "As passionate as I am about the sport, the fans will definitely see some intensity coming from me and the girls as I push them to play to the very best of their abilities."

Overall, Emborsky is happy to be back in the area, and is appreciative of the support she has received.

"I'm very grateful for those who have continued to believe in me and my abilities to coach and who pushed for me to return to Cape Fear. Although I am coming to the program late in the recruiting period, I see a lot of potential in the girls that are signed for the 2018 season and if we work hard we will be a tough contender in the region."
