Cape Fear vs USC Sumter

USC Sumter wins 6-0

In Short: The Sea Devils continue to struggle to find their rhythm and mental fortitude in their early season non-conference matchups.

Highlights: Cape Fear Men's Soccer held their own for the majority of the first half against USC Sumter. But when it came down to finishing on the offensive end, the Sea Devils had a hard time connecting their passes and making the necessary runs to score. Harold Macias made a few promising runs with 2 shots on goal, but no dice on the score sheet.

Sumter's first goal came in the 19th minute after a defensive marking error after an initial save from Aydan Scharf that was volleyed back in by an unmarked Sumter attacker.

Once CFCC received a red card, it was nearly impossible for the Sea Devils to generate offensive momentum. After another defensive error that led to an own goal on Cape Fear, the team was unable to recover any momentum and USC Sumter took control over the rest of the match.

Final Thoughts: "Hats off to USC Sumter, who is a talented team and played with a lot of drive and heart," says Head Coach Giovanni Vlahos. "We have struggled to play through adversity, but we look forward to the growth opportunities that come with situations like this."
