Cape Fear vs Wake Tech

Cape Fear wins 3-1

Highlights: Cape Fear Men's Soccer secured a resilient 3-1 win over Wake Tech in a hard-fought battle. The game started on a shaky note, as a back pass error in the first minute allowed Wake Tech to go 1-v-1 with Cape Fear's goalkeeper, putting the Sea Devils down 1-0 early. However, Sea Devils refused to crumble under the pressure and locked in with a united front to turn things around.

By halftime, Cape Fear had turned the game around with two crucial goals. Sophomore Chance Davis found the net with a well-executed header from a corner service delivered by freshman Cuitlahuac Gonzalez. Minutes later, sophomore Cristian Botello scored a pinpoint strike off a throw-in from sophomore Cooper Lang, giving Cape Fear a 2-1 lead going into the break.

The Sea Devils' performance is a testament to their growth throughout this long season in the Region 10 Conference, both mentally and physically on the pitch. A third goal sealed the victory for Cape Fear in the second half when the Sea Devils formed a cohesive attack that led to Cooper Lang playing a well-placed ball to Chance Davis who once again found the net with his speed on the forward line.

Head Coach Giovanni Vlahos remarks on his team's slow growth as they have developed the resiliency to stay competitive as the season has progressed - continuing their momentum as they embrace the process of becoming stronger competitors. "We're proud of the progress this group has made," says Vlahos. "They trusted the tough schedule early on and are beginning to see why we push them so hard to play the Sea Devil way. So happy for all the boys but especially the sophomores who were celebrating their "Sophomore Night" at CFCC. It's good that they got this win in front of all their family and friends. Overall so many positives for us being such a young team."
