Wilmington, NC - A pair of Cape Fear Community College women's basketball players signed their National Letters of Intent on Wednesday inside the Union Station Building at the CFCC Downtown Campus to signify commitments to four-year schools heading into the next academic year.

Eboni Gilliam became the first Lady Sea Devil hoopster in the programs young history to sign with an NCAA division I program as the Richmond, Va. native has set her sights on Longwood University, while Kristina Rumplasch will be heading closer to home under the direction of Coach Ann Hancock at Wingate University.

"We couldn't be more proud of Kristina and Eboni and their accomplishments at Cape Fear," said CFCC Head Coach Lori Drake. "They have brought the women's game to another level and truly set the tone for our program moving forward.

"They are both hard workers, excellent students and personify what it means to be a student-athlete in college."

Rumplasch comes off a freshman year as the team's leading scorer and First-Team All-Region selection. Her consistency on and off the floor has helped her develop into a complete player, who looks to step right into playing time at Wingate.

Drake couldn't be more proud to be see one of her own play for her former head coach at UNCW.

"Nothing makes me happier than seeing Kristina play for my former head coach," said Drake. "I know that she will be in great hands and walking into a top notch program.

"Kristina's work ethic and ability to be coached on and off the floor will carry her through her collegiate career at Wingate."

Gilliam has been one of the hardest workers to go through Drake's well-noted vigorous training sessions and the sophomore continues to grow leaps and bounds from when coming to Wilmington as a first-year student-athlete.

"Eboni is a true ambassador of CFCC Athletics and has battled every step of the way," said Drake.  "Most people don't know this, but Eboni worked three jobs over the summer, while taking summer classes and participating in our off-season workouts.

"She still continues to work during the season and works two days a week opening Starbucks before attending her 8 a.m. classes.  Those attributes will carry Eboni through her journey at Longwood University.

"Eboni has been a team captain for us for the last two years and has filled that captain role exceptionally well. We are very proud of Eboni and look forward to seeing her do big things as a Lancer."
