Women's Soccer Earns First Conference Win with 1-0 Victory

Spartanburg, SC - Cape Fear women's soccer rebounded from their first loss of the season by earning their first conference win in a 1-0 victory over Spartanburg Methodist.

The lone goal of the game came in the 55th minute. Sea Devils defender/midfielder Dani Donovan received a pass from midfielder Kaitlin Plienis and proceeded to beat the last defender and the keeper by slotting the ball in the far post.

"Dani showed great composure in a very tight space to get us the goal," said head coach Ryan Deppa.

The goal is Donovan's second of the season.

Coach Deppa was pleased with the win and in particular with the clean sheet.

"[I am] happy with the team earning its second shutout of the season," said Deppa. "The team is excited to be playing on its home turf for the next few upcoming games."

The Sea Devils play their next five straight games at home and six of their seven. The first of the homestand is against Louisburg College this Wednesday, September 5th, at 6:00 p.m.

With Saturday's win, Cape Fear moves to 2-1 on the season and 1-0 in conference.
