Women’s Soccer Notches Win over Patriots

Score: CFCC 14, Patrick Henry 0

Location: North Campus Soccer Stadium - Wilmington, NC

Record: CFCC 5-0

In Short: The Sea Devils took the reins offensively over a goal-heavy match against Patrick Henry Community College.

Highlights: After a few matchups on the road, CFCC Women's Soccer returned home this Wednesday afternoon to take on the Patrick Henry Community College Patriots - a reinvigorated team that is returning to the NJCAA after a few years of absence under promising new leadership with Head Coach Grant Boaz. The Sea Devils were able to establish a dominant presence early on in the match by scoring a few solid 1-vs-keeper goals within the first few minutes of play. From there, the Sea Devils took the time to work on their offensive technique and provide opportunities for players throughout the lineup to have a chance at the offensive net.

CFCC Head Coach Dave Martin, also making his debut with the team this season, emphasized using the field's entire width as much as possible and swinging the ball into the backfield to create new angles of attack before proceeding forward. Coach Martin and the rest of the Sea Devils squad were able to work on some tactical challenges in their offense throughout the match that will ultimately make the team a stronger competitor moving forward with conference play.

Up Next: The Sea Devils will take on conference opponent Wake Tech in Raleigh, NC next Wednesday, October 6 at 1:30 PM.
