Sea Devils Top Pitt CC

Wilmington, NC - The Lady Sea Devils came out on fire taking down Pitt Community College by a score of 25-13 in the first set and hitting .480 as a team. Freshman Brittani Jefferson recorded 5 kills in the first set with a .833 hitting percentage. However, Pitt was not going down without a fight. The Bulldogs spirits were high as they went up 23-19, but 3 hitting errors and an ace changed the momentum of the set.  A huge block from Jefferson ended the set and gave the Sea Devils a commanding 2-0 lead. The Sea Devils were tested again in the 3rd set, but saw a huge serving impact from Kate Meagher to finish off the match with a score of 25-21.

"Pitt is a tough team. It seemed they dug everything we had and weren't willing to go down without a fight. This was a great win for confidence, but also a great test to show the girls how important it is to eliminate errors. If we take care of the ball, we are hard to beat," said Head Coach Emily Coleman.

The 9-0 Lady Sea Devils open up their home campaign this weekend.  The action begins Friday at 3:00 pm with CFCC battling WTCC. Cape Fear then has a break before squaring off with BCC at 7:00 pm.  The Sea Devils also play Saturday afternoon as they welcome Guilford Tech Community College to the Schwartz Center.  Game time for this match is set for 1:00 pm.
