Sea Devils Drop Heartbreaker

Wilmington, N.C. - The Sea Devils' men's team lost its third game in a row and sixth game by one point Saturday to Spartanburg Methodist College. The loss moves the Sea Devils to 4-8 overall and 4-7 in conference play.

"We have such a young team that I just don't feel like we have grasped how to finish games yet," said head coach Matt Sadler. "I think we are getting closer with every game and as the conference tournament approaches, I think we will be ready."

The Sea Devils defense kept them in the game, but two red cards proved to be too much as SMC claimed a 3-2 victory. "I think (the defense) did a great job after getting the second red and losing two players. They really stepped up and did what they had to do and at the end we just ran out of gas," Sadler said.

The Sea Devils are back in action this Thursday as they hit the road to battle USC Sumter. Cape Fear won there earlier match this season so the Sea Devils know they can get back on the winning track. "We need to go to Sumter and start a winning streak before coming home for our last two regular season games. I think if we can get on a roll now and carry it to the conference tournament, anything is possible," said Sadler.
