Alumni Sarr Earns Award

Mt.Olive, NC - Vieux Sarr, who recorded Mount Olive's highest single-season individual goal-scoring total since 2005, has been named to the 2011 All-Conference Carolinas Men's Soccer Third Team. Sarr has been a starting forward for the Trojans in his two years at Mount Olive since transferring from Cape Fear CC.

Sarr, a senior from Raleigh, N.C., is among the top 10 in the conference this season in three scoring categories. He's tied for ninth in the conference with eight goals, tied for sixth with six assists and ranks seventh with 22 points.

Sarr notched three two-goal matches this season, the most notable in the Trojans' come-from-behind conference win October 8 at Erskine. Sarr scored a pair of late goals three minutes apart, scoring the tying goal in the 83rd minute and the winning goal in the 86th minute to lift Mount Olive to a 3-2 win. He also recorded two assists and a goal in the final 11 minutes of the Trojans' 3-1 victory over Belmont Abbey October 1.

Sarr's eight goals this season are the most by a Trojan men's soccer player since Reid Clewis scored 10 goals in 2005.

Mount Olive finished 6-12-0 overall and 4-7-0 in conference play. The Trojans were in contention for a berth in the Conference Carolinas Tournament through the final day of the regular season.
