Wilmington, NC - The Sea Devil 2011 Men's Soccer team had an up and down season in Head Coach Matt Sadler's first season at the helm.  With the majority of the team being made up of incoming freshman there was a huge learning curve for the team, but that did not make this group of young men any less competitive.  The final season record of 6-10 was deceptive to the true quality of the team.  Eight of the losses were by a single goal and three of those came in overtime.  The other two defeats came by a two goal differential.  The team found themselves in every game, but had a hard time finding consistency as injuries suffered during the season led to many lineup changes.

The team and four players earn All Region 10 honors. Defender Spencer Tayloe and Midfielder/Forward Eddie Darii earned 1st Team All Region honors while Midfielder Domenico Grillo made 2nd Team All Region recognition.  Defender Fabio Raucci was an All Region Honorable Mention selection.

"With such a young team we found ourselves in every game but never able to finish," commented Sadler.  "If you ask the team about the season, no excuses would be made as they just look to improve and come back strong for next season."  The Sea Devils will boast a large group of experienced returners from this year's team and with a strong recruiting class for 2012, the Sea Devils will look to contend for the Region 10 Championship next fall.
