Cape Fear Ties USC Salkehatchie

Wilmington, NC - Women's soccer ties USC Salkehatchie 1-1 as we honor the sophomore class.

It was a quiet first half as neither team was able to get on the board. It was four minutes into the second half where Lina Vasquez was able to convert the Sea Devils only goal of the day. This gave them the lead for a majority of the second half. Kerri Smutney was able to get USC Salkehatchie on the board with nine minutes remaining into the second half. De'Sheryl Hill and Samantha Armstrong combined efforts in goal to keep the Sea Devils undefeated at home for the fourth season in a row. The game ended in a 1-1 tie.

Coach Ryan Deppa says "This was a trap game, and we slipped on the banana peel.  We will learn from it and move forward together.  I am confident that our team will do what is needed this week to be ready to go in Lancaster, SC for the Region 10 Tournament. Today we honored our sophomores; Maggie Hall, Ryan Winseman, Esperanza McKay, Trinity Davis and Samantha Iorio.  Each of them has played a big role in our program during their time at Cape Fear.  I am sure will also play a role this week to help keep us on track going into the Region 10 Tournament".

As the Sea Devils wrap up their season, they end 12-1-2 and 6-1-1 in conference play.

Their next game is scheduled for November 2nd in Lancaster, SC at 7:30 pm.
