Cape Fear Continues their Conference Hot Streak

Shelby, NC (October 1, 2023) - Cape Fear Volleyball finished off their weekend 2-0 over conference opponents Cleveland CC and Southwest Virginia this past weekend. The Sea Devils currently hold a 7-0 conference record moving into October.

In their first matchup versus Cleveland on Friday night, London Ipsen and Mackenzie Davis led the charge with 17 kills each. Abby Morse earned 6 kills with 2 blocks and 2 aces. Alivia McNally also earned a career-high of 51 assists for the Sea Devils.

The first two sets remained tight, but after a few lineup adjustments and regrouping from the Sea Devils, Cape Fear was able to pull out the win on top. "Olivia O'Kane was a massive factor both in blocking and in a couple of key kills for this match," says Head Coach Colby Rosser.

In the following matchup against Southwest Virginia on Saturday afternoon, the Sea Devils finished with a clean sweep and 20 total aces as a team - led by London Ipsen with 11 on her own. Ipsen also led the team in kills with 13, with Mackenzie Davis closely following with 11. Leah Davis took control defensively for Cape Fear with 22 digs to finish the match.

"Great adjustments coming off of yesterday's win with a super smooth performance by everyone," remarks Rosser. "Great energy overall and we're very happy to get 2 wins on the road."

The Sea Devils will travel to Raleigh, NC to take on the Wake Tech Eagles on Tuesday, October 3rd, at 6 PM.
