Volleyball Notches Another Conference Win on the Road

Fayetteville, NC (October 18, 2023) - Cape Fear Volleyball went back on the road to compete against the Fayetteville Tech Trojans in a rematch that would count towards both teams' Region 10 Conference records. The Sea Devils, now 10-0 in conference play, were determined to finish one of their last road matchups of regular season play strong. After battling against the Trojans, the Sea Devils came out on top and remained #1 in the conference.

The Sea Devils started off the match on their back foot offensively: while they were able to hold their defensive shape well, unforced errors and small mistakes made it easy for the Trojans to build momentum and win the first set 22-25.

Cape Fear slowly regained control of their ball movement and minimized attacking errors, but Fayetteville has always been a tenacious opponent, especially on their home court. The Sea Devils took the second set with a close 25-23 win.

Moving into the third and fourth sets, Cape Fear continued to persevere and widen the score gap as they progressed through the rest of the match. Mackenzie Davis earned 14 kills and 20 digs, while London Ipsen earned 10 kills and 10 digs to finish the night. Quincy Vanderhorst led the Sea Devils with 28 assists and 16 digs, while Sarah Seibert registered 7 kills to keep the Sea Devils' momentum going as the night went on.

Abby Morse remains a solid middle as she earned 5 blocks to finish off the Trojans.

"It was a hard-fought match against a motivated FTCC team," remarks Head Coach Colby Rosser. "We struggled to find our rhythm offensively but worked through it as a group tonight. It's a great win on the road in a tough playing atmosphere."

The Sea Devil Volleyball team will host Wake Tech for Sophomore night in the Schwartz Center on Thursday, October 19 at 6 PM.
