Men's Soccer Earns First Win of the Season

After opening the season with two disappointing losses at home, the Sea Devils went on the road to pick up their first win of the season against Patrick Henry Community College 4-3 on Sunday afternoon.  The Sea Devils stormed out of the gates creating many scoring opportunities early and often. They were rewarded for their efforts when Derek Yates received a pass from Storm Tootle and found the back of the net for the first goal of the game just 15 minutes into the contest.  Just three minutes later Storm Tootle registered a goal of his own on a through ball over the top from Rico Bryant. The score remained 2-0 as the halftime horn sounded.

As play resumed for second half, Patrick Henry was able to get on the scoreboard to narrow the deficit 2-1. Cape Fear quickly responded though on a strike from Victor Flores to make it 3-1 in favor of the Sea Devils. Patrick Henry would not go away however and through a series of defensive miscues by the Sea Devils, Patrick Henry netted two goals to level the score at 3-3 with 10 minutes to play.  Cape Fear found a way to regain their composure and mount an attack of their own for the elusive game winner. With two minutes remaining, BJ Woods who was dangerous all afternoon, calmly found Robert Sandidge at the top of the Patrick Henry box. On a first time strike, Sandidge went top corner for the eventual game winning goal. The Sea Devils hit the road next to face USC Lancaster Saturday afternoon.
