Sea Devils On Win Streak

September 24, 2012

The Cape Fear Community College men's soccer team won their third straight game on Saturday at home versus USC Salkehatchie 1-0.

CFCC has been coming on strong as of late, and it showed in the first half of play against the Indians, a team that was on a winning streak of their own. The Sea Devils outshot their opponents 7-1 in the opening period but the teams remained deadlocked 0-0 at half.

During the second period, the Sea Devils continued their strong tactical play and were rewarded with a goal in the 72nd minute. The goal came on a quick counter attack on the wing where Dylan Cross, in the open field, slotted Robert Sandidge with a pass at the top of the box. Sandidge fired a shot in the lower right corner for the ultimate game winner.

The CFCC defense held strong to finish out the game while Parker Eden played all 90 minutes in goal with 3 saves to earn the shutout. CFCC moves to 3-2 on the season while USC Salkehatchie drops to 6-3 overall. The Sea Devils travel to Louisburg College this Wednesday, game time slated for 4:00 p.m.
