Wilmington, NC - Cape Fear men's soccer defeated USC Lancaster 3-0 on Saturday.

Freshman forward Sam Bell was the standout, scoring two goals and providing an assist.

The assistant coaches raved about his performance. Assistant coach McCartney Barrier stated that Bell, "stood out and shined as he showed us what he is capable of doing," while assistant coach Chris Harper added that Bell, "did not stop moving off the ball and helped us create many opportunities."

Bell now has three goals and two assists on the season following Saturday's performance.

The coaching staff was very pleased with the team's overall performance as well.

Coach Barrier said the Sea Devils played how they always should: with confidence, energy and focus. "You know it's a good game when the coaches are sitting and barely have to say a word."

Coach Harper pointed out that the good result was due to dictating the tempo and starting fast. "We played very loose and relaxed and the team really gelled today. We did not let up and kept pressing."

The strong start led to an early score for the Sea Devils, which ultimately set the tone for a good afternoon win.

"We played well," said head coach C.W. Ponton. "We came out and scored early. Every healthy field player received playing time and I was pleased with the performance."

The Sea Devils improve to 6-4-1 on the season and in conference play. It is their second consecutive win and fourth game in a row unbeaten.

Their next game is scheduled for Monday, October 15th, where they will take on Wake Tech Community College on the road at 2:30 p.m.
