Wilmington, NC (September 5th, 2023) - After patiently waiting an entire week for their next matchup, Cape Fear Men's Soccer returned to North Campus Soccer Field on Labor Day yesterday to take on the Virginia Peninsula Gators. The Sea Devils made their presence known early, dominated the Gators throughout the entire 90 minutes, and proved they are a force to be reckoned with as they enter conference play this month.

Trey Clements was the first one up for the Sea Devils to put points on the board within the first 14 minutes - earning a hat trick all to himself in the nick of time. Once the Sea Devils established their lead early, it allowed the team to work on different set pieces and experiment with new offensive combinations.

Cape Fear was up 6-0 at the half, but utilized this as a teachable moment against complacency and holding their shape well regardless of the score against their opponents.

Bryce Gussman, who has recently recovered from surgery, dove right in and earned 2 goals in his first match back.

At the end of the match, the Sea Devils charted 9 different players in the assist category while both goalkeepers split match time to earn a collective shutout against the Gators.

"We are looking forward to conference play next week, and this team's unselfish character is a driving force for us," says Head Men's Soccer Coach Giovanni Vlahos. "We hope the Sea Devil family comes out and supports us as we have our sights set on our Region 10 opponents."

Cape Fear Men's Soccer will take on Louisburg College next Monday, September 11th, at 2PM at North Campus Soccer Field.
