Cape Fear Falls to Patrick & Henry on the Road

Axton, VA (October 10, 2023) - Cape Fear Men's Soccer traveled to compete against the Patrick & Henry Patriots for the second time this season after a 0-1 loss at home earlier this season. The Patriots and the Sea Devils currently sit at the top of the Region 10 Conference as Patrick & Henry defeated the Sea Devils last night on their home turf.

Cape Fear started off discombobulated in the first half - missing key connections in their attacking set pieces and missing opportunities to make solid defensive stops to keep the Patriots at bay. Patrick & Henry narrowly missed a few scoring opportunities in the first half as 45 minutes went by without scoring from either team. Moving into the second half, the Sea Devils came onto the pitch with new energy and the tenacity that turned the game control away from the Patriots. Cape Fear began to execute more shots on goal and raise the tempo to their regular standard of play.

While the Sea Devils fought hard to change the direction of the game, Patrick & Henry executed a tough shot with less than 3 minutes left in play to put them on the board and ultimately win the match. Alejandro Sepulveda ended the game with 5 total saves.

"This was tough, but I love the grit that our team showed in the second half," says Head Coach Giovanni Vlahos. "We have a rough week ahead with 2 more conference games coming up this week, but we are excited to come back and give Louisburg a run."

The Sea Devil Men's Soccer team will continue on the road to take on Louisburg in Louisburg, NC on Wednesday, October 11th at 1 PM.
