In Short: Cape Fear Women's Basketball finishes off Denmark Tech in the final moments of their first matchup of the season.

Highlights:

The Sea Devils took the court for the first time this season against the Denmark Tech Panthers on their home court. This newly-invigorated team stepped onto the court excited to kick off the season against a Division I opponent.

Cape Fear initially started off the game on their back foot and allowed a 15-15 score at the end of the First Quarter. The Sea Devils struggled to find their rhythm offensively and needed to find their bearings to prevent forced turnovers in favor of the Panthers.

While the Sea Devils found new momentum in the Second Half, the Panthers refused to back down and continued to push the pace throughout the game. Moving into the Fourth Quarter, the Sea Devils gained a 10 point lead of 53-43 as they attempted to close out the game quickly.

Denmark Tech was able to briefly close the score gap in the Fourth Quarter and capitalize on a few outside shooting opportunities - finishing off the game point-for-point until the final minutes.

In the last play of the game, returning Sophomore Imani Sutton grabbed a key rebound and dished it out to Freshman Senali Moss for a quick layup with 0.4 seconds left. Cape Fear finished the game with a win and the team is excited for the bright future ahead of them this season.

"First games of the season on the road aren't the easiest," remarks Assistant Coach Taylor Todd-Williams. "But we got those jitters out of the way. We have areas to sharpen but that's part of the process. We're looking forward to the Carly Rae Classic at home this weekend."

Up Next: Cape Fear Women's Basketball will host the Carly Rae Classic throughout the weekend this Friday and Saturday, November 5th-6th. They will take on South Georgia Tech at 3PM on Saturday afternoon.
