In Short: The Sea Devils increase their streak to a 12-0 undefeated season as the cruise through the beginning of Region 10 Conference play.

Highlights:

After rushing to make up a couple of important games that were postponed towards the beginning of the season, due to opposing teams unable to field players with various winter-season illnesses, Cape Fear Women's basketball has fallen back into the rhythm of playing consistent matchups. The squad soaks up new experiences like a sponge and continues to improve on their previous games as the season has progressed.

Speaking of unexpected illnesses, Sophomore impact player Imani Sutton and Head Coach Trae Bryant both fell sick before Monday night's game, but had all of the confidence in the world behind Assistant Coach and former CFCC Women's Basketball standout Taylor Todd-Williams heading the team. With Todd-Williams in the drivers' seat, Cape Fear returned to the Schwartz Center last night on MLK Day to take on the Louisburg College Hurricanes.

Cape Fear and Louisburg started off going point-for-point at the beginning of the first quarter. A few unforced turnovers from the Sea Devils led to some unfortunate extra points from the Hurricanes, but the team continued to push the pace and capitalize in the paint offensively and defensively whenever possible. Sophomore Alonna Dunlap played a phenomenal game with 28 points and incredible rebounding - a driving force behind the Sea Devils' post play all night long. The Sea Devils finished the half leading 34-32.

The Sea Devils slowly began to take back more control of the game throughout the third quarter and moving into the fourth. Aside from some mental mistakes on transition defense, Cape Fear was able to extend their lead a bit and make adjustments offensively on the go.

Towards the end of the game, the Hurricanes continued to fight and force turnovers to put the Sea Devils on their heels in defensive transition. But Cape Fear refused to back down and finished out the matchup with a few important free throws and "And-1" plays. Ultimately, the Hurricanes came ready to play and the Sea Devils were excited to start the weekend off with a competitive win.

"I told the girls that we all had to step up today - including myself," remarks Coach Taylor Todd-Williams. "The girls fought really hard and I'm glad we closed it out..that moves us to 12-0."
